Acapulco is one of Mexico’s most beautiful and exciting cities. For many years, the city has had one of the most bustling nightlife’s anywhere in the country. Few destinations rival its beaches and its water sports can tire out even the most active tourists.

Add that to gourmet restaurants, first-rate hotels and the sheer beauty of Acapulco Bay and you have a recipe for an excellent vacation.

While in Acapulco, you may wish there were more hours in the day so you could enjoy everything there is on offer here. However, since that is impossible you need to decide on what activities are best for you.

The three best activities to see or do in Acapulco are go fishing, watch cliff divers and enjoy a day at the beach.

Sail fishing

Fishing in general is outstanding in Acapulco but sail fishing in Acapulco is legendary. It is news if a chartered fishing boat returns without a catch. Charters will take you out to enjoy the fighting ability of the sailfish, which spend as much time out of the water fighting as they do in it.

Sailfish on the Pacific are one and a half to two times as large as in the Atlantic, image hooking a 10-footer than weighs over 200 pounds.

The World Famous Acapulco Cliff Divers

Everyone will tell you that when you visit Acapulco you must go watch the Cliff divers. The best divers are the ones from La Quebrada.

You can see these fearless divers and enjoy a great meal with gourmet food and a fully stocked bar at La Perla restaurant that overlooks the cliffs and water below.

It gives you a great prospective of the risk these divers take. The divers first climb more than 90 feet (30 meters) to the cliff tops.

They then kneel and pray in front of an altar of the Virgin of Guadeloupe. Finally, they dive from the cliff at the precise second the tide approaches bringing in water to fill the inlet.

Acapulco’s Beaches

Going to the Beach Acapulco possesses some of the most beautiful golden sand beaches in all of Mexico. With all the other beach destinations available throughout the country, Acapulco still rates as one of the best in all of Mexico. The majority of beaches are found within Acapulco Bay and can be accessed via La Costera, the main boulevard that runs parallel to the water.

However, there are many others only 10 to 15 minutes by taxi outside of town. The majority of beaches offer a myriad of water sports. You can rent wave runners; go parasailing; rent snorkel equipment; or go out on a glass bottom boat.

Beaches that attract the most visitors include Playa Condesa, Playa Revolcadero, Playa Caleta, Pie de la Cuesta, Playa Marin and Roqueta and many others.

These are only three activities you can enjoy in this lovely city on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Ask your concierge for a list of other activities so you can make the most of your visit to Mexico.

Acapulco is located at the perfect beach location, on Mexico’s Pacific coast. The region is a highly popular destination for tourists from all around the world, and Acapulco itself has long been hailed as one of Mexico’s liveliest resort towns. The town itself boasts a great range of bars, restaurants and nightclubs, but for many people, the real draw is the fantastic stretch of coastline. While beaches in Acapulco are famous for their fine golden sands and warm waters, one of the largest draws to the area has to be the exciting range of Acapulco water sports .

Aquatic Things to do In Acapulco

Visitors to Acapulco can engage in a diverse range of exciting activities, including snorkeling and scuba diving, jet boat riding, wind surfing, sports fishing or jet skiing in Acapulco. The warm Pacific waters at Acapulco attract a great range of big game fish, such as sailfish, marlin and dorado. If you’re interested in sea fishing, then a vacation to Acapulco is one of the best destinations for you in Mexico.

Acapulco is a great vacation destination if your children are going to join you. Apart from the beaches and the normal beach related activitiesthere are many attractions to keep the younger set busy.

Water Parks and Amusement Centers

CiCi, located on Av. Costera M. Alemán, at Playa Icocas, is a water park featuring water slides, water toboggans, dolphin encounters, seal shows a wave pool and Sky Coaster, a ride that will leave youngsters and grownups alike screaming.

Mundo Marino is an aquarium and fun center, located in between the little beaches known as Playa Caleta and Playa Caletilla and features indoor and outdoor marine exhibits, water slides, water sports, restaurants and gift shops.

Parque Papagayo, is a huge park located on The Costera, across from Playa Hornos. The park is filled with carnival rides, go-karts, roller skating rinks, skateboard courses and many other attractions.

Malls

The two major malls both have many diversions, such a video game rooms, for the younger set, so that the parents can shop while the kids amuse themselves.

Fuerte de San Diego

Several blocks south of the zócalo is the Fuerte de San Diego, a fort built in the 18th century to protect the city against pirate attacks. The fort is very well preserved and houses a museum with some interesting displays pertaining to Mexico’s history. This is another, easy to get to, attraction that is very enjoyable to the younger set.

The Zoo

There is also a small zoo out on Isla Roqueta that the kids might enjoy. Take one of the many glass bottom boat trips that go to the island. Most of these boats also stop at the sunken statue of the Virgin of Guadalupe, on the way to the island.

Have you been Acapulco? What did your kids enjoy?
